Kenya Safari

Country forums / Africa / Kenya

We two persons from Romania are going to Kenya for a safari holiday at the end of this Month, January 28th. We will be taking the 9-day ( http://e-safaris.com/our-safaris-and-day-trips/menu-styles/9-days-rhino-safari-es4416 )safari package from e safaris Kenya. We really like this itinerary but cost is a bit prohibitive. We are looking for two or more people to share the costs. We are not rich but we would like to experience a Kenyan safari. We arrive Nairobi on the night of 27th January.

ok, its not a realy good price for you.
Send me your mailadress and I send you a goog offer for your holiday in Kenya with a Privat Safari.

Would you mind joining a group yourselves!?

Thanks everyone for your time to answer. We already booked the safari back in September as a private tour but due to unprecedented financial situation, we need trey and save as much as we can and still enjoy the trip as planned. Joining a group would have been a good option had we not committed ourselves.

Thank you.

This isn't an expensive itinerary for what is included, but the problems are 1) it's way too fast (driving Amboseli to Sweetwaters in one day, while trying to include Daphne Sheldrick's elephant orphange is crazy) and 2) it's been devised by someone who thinks that there are still lots of flamingos at Lake Nakuru and that this is the time of year to see wildebeest herds crossing the rivers in the Maasai Mara. Or more likely it's just a string of night stops at mid-range lodges stitched together with generic tourist info about the areas covered.

Incidentally, I don't think there'd be more than around $150 a day saved by having two extra people join the vehicle, assuming the standard daily rate of around $2-300 for driver and vehicle. All the other costs (park fees, accommodation, meals, drinks) are per person.

Buyer beware!

Hi Richard,
Thank you for your reply. Saving $150 a day will take us a long way. This might be a small amount to you but for us at this time is a lot.

We have two nights in each location, what makes you thin that the itinerary is rushed? What is the drive time between Amboseli-Nairobi and Nairobi to Sweetwaters?

Will see how it works. If time allows we will visit as we will only have that opportunity to visit the place.

Thanks so much for your time!

Fair enough. But $75 each per day saved from a bill of $3700 per person for 9 days just doesn't seem a huge saving.

Amboseli to Nairobi to Sweetwaters is one very full day of driving with no stops. I think the trip to Daphne Sheldrick;s ele orphanage down in the southwest of Nairobi National Park would be a casualty. It's just too far out of the way and you'll spend a good 1.5 to 2 hours just getting through Nairobi without diverting over to the southwest.
