Kampala-Kigali bus

Country forums / Africa / Uganda

Which bus companies do this route at the moment and are there buses leaving in the morning rather than evening as seems to be popular in the rest of east africa?

I think you should do your bit and search first before asking! Your enquiry is clearly answered on several occasions in this section, leave alone on the entire web!

I used Jaguar Bus Line a couple of years ago. I don't think it left super early though....maybe 10 am

If I remember right they moved but they are still close to down town--close enough to take a boda

good luck!

Kampala Coach company on Jinja Rd. They have some very strange departure times, like middle of the night, so check first as they seem to change!

tzguy. Cheers for that I guess Jaguar is a possibility as their depot is just up the road from where I usually stay in Kampala. Although I was hoping that there was an early departure so as not to arrive in Kigali late in the evening.

rachelinasia. Kampala coach is a company I know well and was aware that their only bus to Kigali leaves in the evening although I am not a big fan of night buses after having my bag stolen while I was asleep on a bus in East Africa a few years ago. Another possibility I was thinking about was maybe travelling to Kibale on a Horizon bus and then move onto Kigali in the morning after a leisurely breakfast.

africanexplorer I can’t say I found any information on an early morning departure to Kigali when I searched the net or this site but if you say my question is clearly answered on several occasions you could have at least put a link to this inormation in your reply.

Murakoze!

Hi Elvis,
I think you mean KABALE on your way to Kigali, not KIBALE.
And I sort of have to agree with africanexplorer... Kampala Coach has been discussed on TT at length recently and the link to their website has been given where the company's schedule can be found. http://kampalacoach.com/routechart.php
Accordingly, Kla coach's departure to Kigali is actually not in the 'evening', but at 3am! Ouch.
Happy trails and journey well,
Pryd
