| bostonaj1704:10 UTC03 Jul 2007 | I will be flying into Kilimanjaro Airport 3 days before my safari begins in Arusha. Can anyone recommend some interesting place/activates/towns that are within 2 hours by car of the airport or Arusha?

If you will not have Arusha National park in your booked program, I can suggest you do a day trip to this amazing park where you can do walking safaris, birding, and canoing if you wish...it is just 35km from Arusha town. Other places of interest are cultural tour in Marangu village (at the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro) which is 2hours drive from Arusha or villages in Arusha. Depending on what you are most interested in seeing.
Good luck

A good option is the coultural tourism program for Masai people in Longido. You can visit one of the Masai vilages on the Kenyan way and enjoy a natural walk whith a Masai gide. They have an office in Arusha and they will help you to get longido by public transport. You can go to the vilages for few houers o few days, it's up to you, the price it's nothing, (don't remember now) and go for the Masai people
I give you the link to my page with some information. I did'n translate it yet, but when you can reed Contacto you will find the adress, mail, and telephone number.
HERE IT IS
You just need two houers to get there

| desk_jockey10:21 UTC08 Jul 2007 | You can visit the International War Crimes Tribunal for Rwanda. Interesting for an hour or so. There's a nice cafe in the National Museum behind the AICC. I recommend dinner at the BBQ & Autoparts shop mentioned in the LP. You'll probably not want to spend more than 2 days in Arusha, even if you're adjusting to the time difference, so you could do a day-trip to Arusha NP as mentioned by #2.
