Holidays in Egypt ;)

Hi All,

i am planning to go to Egypt at the very end of November....and to be honest i have really no idea which place is the best to visit?? What i am looking for are pristine waters and beautiful beaches, as well as some bars we could go to....

Egypt is a funny one. Sharm and Hurgahada are very touristy indeed, Dahab is a nice place especially for chilled out beach front living and awesome underwater life and a good few bars.

You obviously wanna head for Sinai.

Are you going for one or two weeks?

If you're going for one week, I'd split it between Sharm and Dahab, spending a couple of days in Sharm to visit Ras Mohammed for diving or snorkelling and go partying/clubbing. Then, if you want, you could make it to Mt. Sinai, if that's something for you, or just head directly for Dahab (snorkeling, chill out places) and spend the rest of your time there (when you're fed up with snorkeling, make a desert trip).

If you have a little bit more time, you could also go to the tarabin beach in Nuweiba or one of the even simpler camps up north to chill out at the beaches. With even more time, you could even visit Petra in Jordan (2 days).

If you're flying into Egypt, remember that it's 8-10 hours to Sharm and Dahab. Consider buying a plane ticket (a good travel agency should be able to help you with this).

There's not a great deal in Nuweiba, and by "not a great deal" I mean "nothing at all". There are two restaurants, a couple of "authentic craft shops" and a laundry place. The banks are 10km out of "town", by the bus station, and you need to take a taxi (or some hiking boots) to get anywhere. It's ok for a couple of days, but not much longer. The beach itself isn't that nice either.

I think Tarabin is nice and the beaches are fine enough. The city in itself is nothing worth noticing you're absolutely right. It's just if you wanna relax completely and do nothing. That's true for the northern camps as well. If you wanna party, it's definitively not the place.
