hi all !

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip from Germany to Tanzania for 2 Weeks in Oktober. I was wondering if anyone can reccomend us a company or tour opporator to go with !! We would like to go on safari, beach, Serengeti, climb Kili, ....

Is Tanzania dangerous for tourists? What locations would you recommend? If possible....cheap please! ;)

If finding a tour operator requires five helps and fifteen exclamation points you'd best stay in Germany. ;-)

Sorry but nothing is cheap in Tanzania.

To elaborate on #2 - nothing TOURISTY is cheap in Tanzania, which basically includes all the things you plan to do. If you want to travel cheaply in Tanzania, you have to go local - stay at local guesthouses, eat at local restaurants, use local transport and stay out of any National Parks or game reserves. A typical budget camping Safari will cost about $130-140 per person per day these days, a budget Kili climb (6 days) about $1000.

it seems you want to do a lot in 2 weeks as well... climbing kili requires at least 6/7 days, and a decent safari around the northern circuit that covers serengueti and ngorongoro at least 4/5 days and then, getting around your 2 weeks are almost gone, with no time to Dar or Zanzibar for beechening..... try to concentrate in what you 2 would like to do and see most and it will come easier to organise!!!!! i will be going in august and after several months of research i have found good budget quotes by myself, if you wanna some tip, PM me and I can share with you, good luck, Thais

Consider booking your safari from mwanza. It is a nice city to stay in with many fewer tourists than arusha. The western corridor of Serengeti (which we liked more than Ngorongoro) is not a far drive. We had a great experience with Masumin tours (they have a website that you can google), and we would highly recommend their services. Alas, #2 is correct, Mwanza is not necessarily cheap, but you can fly there on domestic airlines as easily as to arusha. We do not find tanzania particularly dangerous for tourists, but it is best to take taxis after dark, as many areas are poorly lit. best of luck, and enjoy your trip!

Hi,

I did a safari and the Kili climb with a company called Zara Tours (zaratours.com). Couldn't fault them on the safari, they were great and the guide and cook we had were excellent. Wouldn't advise you to climb Kili with them though, didn't think much of them at all, the food was basic and not in plentiful supply which you kind of need. Didn't relaise how much we were taking our life in our hand. If you are going to climb Kili I suggest you put a lot of research into the company you are going to use.

For safari I'd recomend the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro crater is a must. I did the Kili climb in 5 days but I would recomend 6 just to get used to the high altitude, you will have a better chance of making it to the summit if you take longer.

Found Tanzania very safe and friendly.

Enjoy
