Golden Gate Hotel, Budubram

Hi, has anyone stayed at the above hotel close to Kasoa on the West side of Accra, just wondering what it is like, ie, is it safe and clean. Also how long would it take to get there from Accra ?

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Sorry, never heard of that particular hotel. However, I can say Kasoa is quite far out from central Accra and I'm guessing your looking at budget hotels as its not the nicest of areas. I actually think (but could be wrong here) Budubram is on the west side of Kasoa - someone maybe able to correct me here, but I think its beyond the police barrier. In which case, not sure a bad area, but even further away and not much going on there at all. It depends on the time of day, traffic and how you intend to travel, but I'd say getting to central Accra from Kasoa takes anywhere between 20 mins and 2 hours depending on the (seemingly random sometimes) volume of traffic. I also wouldn't want to be travelling back there late at night particularly - my friend had a very nasty car jacking in Kasoa a couple of years ago.

Unless you need to be in Kasoa particularly, I'd suggest looking closer to the centre of Accra - not sure of your budget, but the Rising Phoenix (Akuma Village as was), the Afia Hotel or Paloma hotel are all ok and alot closer to the action than any hotel in Kasoa would be.

Hi, I live in Kasoa, only few km.from Budumburam. I also never heard about that Hotel. Kasoa is already Central Region, and you need from 1 to 3 hours time to reach Accra depending from the travelling time. Avoid sunday evening, monday and saturday morning if you want to travel to Accra, and from Accra to Kasoa every day from 4 to 8 o'clock in the evening. If you want a budget hotel why don't you try at Kokrobite, a fisherman village close to the highway Accra-Kasoa? At Weija traffic light, branch right, after few km. you will find Kokrobite. You can find some good guesthouse there and you will have the vantage to be closer to Accra that Budumburam and enjoy the beach.
