Hi,
just wanted to find out whether anybody is interested to join me and travel to Fort Portal to see the Crater Lakes, tea plantations etc. for a few days (19-23 February)? Am based in Kampala where I have been staying for more than 5 months now.
Let me know asap! Femi

Just to let you know, Fort Portal is not the most pleasant town to stay in, despite what the LP East Africa says (they probably haven't been there in 25 years.) The main road running through town is dirt, and it gets lots of traffic. Very dusty.
It's easy enough to get to the Lakes from the town.

I am not disagreeing with Leo, and have not read the LP account. But Fort Portal is not unpleasant either.
I stayed at the Ndali Lodge when I was in the area. It is expensive and you will probably want to stay elsewhere, however, the Bradt guide says visitors are welcome to explore the tea plantation there--a walk down to the lake at sunset was a highlight for me.
Have fun,
BB

BigBri, when were you there? The reason why it's unpleasant is because main road is being redone. Was it dirt when you were there? Really, I stepped out of my hotel I thought "woh, I don't want to go out there." I'm sure if the road were paved it would be an OK or even nice place to stay.
