fly from Mozambique to Comoros

Country forums / Africa / Mozambique

Hi there. I am planning to go to Mozambique next month. Does anybody know if is possible to fly between Pemba or other places in Mozambique and Comoros islands.
Thanks Yorgo

no, you can fly from dar es salaam

You can fly from Dar es Salaam with Tanzanian Air #210.

There are a few flights from Nairobi:

With Kenya Airways #452 (which stops in Dzaoudi in Mayotte) or with Air African Express #551 (which stops im Mombasa) or Kenya Airways #782 which is non-stop or Air Madagascar #135.

I was in Pemba a few years ago, and heard someone mention that there were regular flights to the Comores from Pemba. Not sure if they still fly there, or maybe they are just charters...

LAM used to fly to Comoros, but not anymore

if you've got a bit of time on your hands you can get a cargo ship from Pemba to the Cormoros or Mayotte. it's quite easy to organise, just go down to the dock and as around.

Dan_tm, do you have experience in what you are suggesting? I don't think the cargo ships even go to Pemba. Nacala is the main port in Northern Mozambique. In addition, i bet most of the cargo ships go along the coast, there is no or little need for cargo transport between Pemba (or Mozambique in general) and Comoros.

There are many Comorian people living in Tanzania, so there is some passenger movement between the two countries.

Anyone has recent info about the Pemba - Comoros combination? I'm thinking about combining Mozambique and Comoros or, more likely, Madagascar and Comoros. I'm just not very happy about the fares of the flights, so any help is welcome. Thanks!
