December in Mada

Country forums / Africa / Madagascar

Hi,
I'm starting to plan two weeks in Madagascar between 3-17th december, I've started a rough plan of what I'd like to do but was hoping someone would be able to tell me whether its realistic, whether there are other things I should be doing whilst in certain areas, and advice on transport. I'll be travelling solely on public transport with two others. We'd also prefer not to travel at night (I've read warnings that at the moment especially it isn't safe to travel at night).

Plan so far is to start in tana then head south to antsirabe, then on to ambositra and then go from there to ranomafana (possibly going to the iakatsara lemur forest camp on the way) then across to fianarantsoa. Then (im not sure how possible this is with public transport) then go on to malaimbandy and on to morondova to see the avenue de baobabs before returning to tana.

Is this realistic? If not has anyone any recommendations how we can reduce the route, still see lots of things (wildlife and general culture) to two weeks.

Many Thanks
Katey
