| hisurfer06:15 UTC12 Sep 2007 | Hey Betty - I was poking around your photos, and saw that you paid 85 EGP for the privelege of entering the Old Cataract Hotel.
What a shock! Was it worth it? Did you get to dress up and watch the sunset and ponder the ruins of Empire? Or is it all packaged tourists in tevas and bermudas and baggy t-shirts?
I can't afford to stay at the Hotel, but did think that a decadent night of cocktails on the Nile sounded fun & possibly affordable. I usually stay in budget places, but can manage one or two big nights out in a trip. Is the Old Cataract the place, or should I look elsewhere?

| simsy14:27 UTC12 Sep 2007 | Gidday hisurfer, Betty is correct when she paid LE85. This entitles you to a couple of drinks to that value. You can also look around.
I got to see the ritzy rooms by asking at the New Cataract where you have to book, that i may stay there and want to look at what they have.
Its all upmarket and offers great views of the Nile as it passes through Aswan.
