Bahariya Oasis

I'll have 5 nights in Bawiti (Bahariya Oasis). Any suggestions on what there is to do here, other than going out into the desert? Thanks

Hi. I am afraid 5 nights is little too much for Bawiti but anyway. You can check out the remains of old town on the hill in Bawiti itself (it is slowly being rebuild with new houses but there are still some really nice narrow streets left there. Then you can visit palmerias there which are rather interesting being build on sort of terraces on the steep slope - unique set in all oases.

Then and mostly you can go for a tour to surrounding Black Desert and to White Desert near Farafra with camping overnight. You can either join a tour (cheaper when you find a group) or hire a private taxi (you can see enough of the desert form the road from Bawiti to Farafra without even venturing off road).
