Air madagascar fares

Country forums / Africa / Madagascar

I'm planning to visit Madagascar mid April to mid May.

Searching the Internet I noticed that flights from Europe (Germany) are much cheaper to Maurice or La Reunion than to Madagascar.
But fares from Maurice/La Reunion to Madagascar are quite expensive when booked via Internet from Europe.

Will air fares be much cheaper when booked locally?
I was thinking of flying to Maurice/La Reunion and book a flight to TNR (e.g. with Air Madagascar) there.
This way I could also spend a few days exploring Maurice or La Reunion.

And generally, will domestic flights with Air Madagascar be the same price when booked locally (e.g. in Antananarivo) compared to the price on its Internet page?

thanks for your comments
Josef

Last summer Air Madagascar had a very attractive deal for return flights from La Reunion to Madagascar. For ca 300 euro you could fly to Tana and return within a month from any other city on the island served by the airline. Check whether this deal is still on offer.

I have found an offer similar to #1, available to be booked on-line. I used the Kayak search engine, which took me to Air Austral, who apparently operate this service.
