| hanmoz07:37 UTC23 Dec 2011 | Hi all We are travelling to Giroyondo border and think we will need to stay the night in Chokwe on the way. Does anyone know if there are any accommodation options there? We have a tent- but would prefer a proper bed after a long drive ;o) Any tips gratefully recieved. LP doesn't even mention Chokwe... which isn't a good sign! Thanks Hannah

You do not say where your long journey would have commenced, so it is difficult to make alterative suggestions for a lay-over. If you can suffer in a tent for 1 more night you could push on to enter the Limpopo park at Massingir and camp at Aguia Pesqueira camp ground, from where, if you chose the right camp site, you have lovely views out over the Massingir Dam. The next night you could spend the night in a chalet at Letaba (book in advance depending on your dates). Alternatively, before you turn north-west at Macia onto the road to Chokwe, you could spend the night at Bilene where there is certainly decent lodge accommodation and then you could push through all the way to Letaba in a reasonably easy day. Remember, the Giryondo Border gate into the Kruger Park closes at 16:00 (4:00 p.m.).

You need to spend at least one night in Limpopo park or Kruger anyway - enforcement of a rule now designed to stop the large volume of traffic just using the Giriyondo and Pafuri border posts as thoroughfares between countries which was never the intended use.
