I'm about to start a course in sustainable architecture with the aim of selling up in London and moving to Africa to build an eco-lodge. From your collective experiences where in Africa would you settle/invest if you had the option?

So far I've got a provisioal shortline of Cape Verde and Madagascar. It's early stages, but I'll love to hear some ideas. A progressive economy (property investment-wise) and a good lifestyle are 2 important tick-boxes.

I would agree with Botswana, seems to be the most stable, economically and politically. Actually has most of the roads built properly, which was a nice change from Malawi and, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Wasn't there for long, but from what i saw, it would be reasonably easy to live there.

Malawi is an easy option. Might not be quite as ecomonically sound but they are ver open to foreign investment. They have a minimum investment of $US 50,000 to get a 5 year business residency permit. Do a google search for Malawi Investment and Promotion Agency.

Thanks for your responses guys.

Do you know anybody who had any experiences of investing in Africa?
