Just to be clear, #7 has contacted me by email and indicated there is not a regular Friday ferry--there is still only one per week most of the time.

So the regular (if you can call African transport that) ferry is monday... About noon that is?
Are planning to jump on board the 9th of april...

Where in Cairo can you buy the tickets?

And if anyone have some good guidelines (experiences) about the sailing time and the 2 (or 3) days train from Wadi Halfa to Khartoum it would be nice :)

Monday is correct. From what I recall it was advised to be on board before noon, though you may not leave until near dark, or later. You can get tickets in Cairo right next to the train station (there are more detailed directions on here somewhere), or in Aswan the morning of the sailing. I was advised at the Cairo ticket office to get my ticket in Aswan. I would advise you not to as I was nearly unable to go. "Sailing" time is 20 to 24 hours maybe (anyone else have a guess?). You get a meal on board but you will probably want to get some bread, water, and whatecer else all of which is available at the dock. I have no idea about the train. It is supposed to be hot as hell. It is a train through the desert.

Got on the boat on Monday morning did not sail till maybe 4pm. Bought tickets in Cairo at the train station, would not have got a tcket if had waited till Aswan. Sailed past Abu Simbul about 6 or 7 the next morning were in a "hotel" in Wadi Halfa by 4pm Tuesday. Bought train tickets Wed morning it left just before dark (i think) got off at the town before Meroe (maybe Atbara) at about 10pm Thursday night and bused to Khartoom via pyrmides the next day.
