10 Hours in Cario

My wife and I leave in two weeks for Uganda and Tanzania. We have a ten hour layover in Cario -- 11:00 am till 9:00 pm. We would like to visit the pyramids and get a bit to eat outside the airport.

Does anyone have a recommendation on an English speaking driver, tour guide, or tour company?

Any thoughts on what to see besides the pyramids?

We also have the same layover on our way to our trip to Kenya/Tanzania. Egypt Air Karnak has great day trip layover deals. For instance, 4 hour pyramids trip is $45 per person for the full day! We'll probably be doing that when we go. When's your flight?

Under current situation I would tell you to not try to do any layover tours by yourself.
either take official tours (ask at the airport if they still operate) or just stay withing the airport transit area.
otherwise you re in various risks such as go at closed places or beeing stopped at traffic jams, in which situation your airline will be not forgiving.

Thanks for all the advice. I have contact three travel firms and received prices. We are waiting until the day before our flight to make the decision: (a) go see the pyramids or (b) stay at the airport and see the pyramids on a future trip when things are calmer in Cairo and Egypt as a whole.
