Hi,
I am looking at going to Zanzibar for our honeymoon in September. Have checked out the weather and from what I can tell this looks to be best option (over kenya).

Just working out how to get there, flights to Dar Saleem seem to be considerably cheaper than Zanzibar town. Is there is a no frills airline that can be booked online from there or would the ferry then be the best bet to get over there?

Then where to stay, Kendwa Rocks seems to be good from what I have read. Looking for…

Hi, I'm traveling to Tanzania in September and am looking for suggestions for:

- budget places to stay in Zanzibar ($30/night) that are safe for a lone female traveller
- reputable scuba diving facility. It's been a while so I'll have to take a refresher course.
- places I can take yoga classes or has gym facilities in both Dar and Zanzi.

Also, looking to travel to Malawi from Dar but can't afford a flight. Has anyone ridden the train to and from, and would it be safe for a single female…

probably a very silly question but ...............
it seems that safari companies, hotels, bus companies, the ferry (for zanzibar) etc etc all want USD. Just ondering if its possible to withdraw USD from ATMs in kenya/tanzania?? I've travelled to many developing countries (where they all want USDs) where the local ATMs allowed you to withdraw USD as well as local currency. Is that the case in East Africa?? Or do I have to bring enough USD (cash/travellers cheques) for the trip?
Cheers

hi everyone,

this is an odd question but has anyone, a couple maybe, ever zippered their bags together for greater warmth on kili. my friend and I are wondering if we do that can we get away with bags that don't go down to -15 or 20. we'd like to save the money if we can, but don't want to be penny wise and pound foolish. based on the threads it doesn't seem like really warm bags can be found at the gate. has anyone rented warm bags from the gate? Thanks much!

hi!!! so, this is one more solo traveller looking for people to form a small HAPPY group or to join one!!! Please, let me know if you will be around Arusha when it's August 18th/19th. I have 5/6 days to do a safari and would like to have the lowest costs possible, but in a nice atmosphere! My ideas are to see Manyara/Tarangire and Ngorongoro or Serengueti - specially because of the fees... I also consider a lot staying in a nice camp i have read good recs. on the Tree called Kudu Camp and from…
