Hi,

I'm travelling to Tanzania, Kenya, and Ethiopia in January thru March and wanted to know if purchasing a mosquito net is necessary. Do most hotels (budget variety) have mosquito nets? Are they adequate? Do other travelers bring their own nets? I appreciate what ever advice you can provide!

Also, I'm planning to do a Kili hike beginning around January 17th or 18th, preferably the Lemosho route rather than Machame. Planning to use Paul Robert Shayo as a guide. Please contact me if you…

It's that time of year where my bf and I debate about where we're going to spend our winter vacation. I made a similar post on another branch, so forgive me if you've already seen this.

We have a month to spend, and can leave anytime between the middle of January and the middle of February. The last 4 years we did Thailand (which I love and want to move to) I would have no problem going back again, if it were up to me. Last year we broke it up a little by taking side trips to Vitnam and Cambodia…

Hi there TTers,
I've been reading this forum for the past few weeks, and I'm seriously considering a Kili trek. I'm travelling to Lamu Island in January for a yoga holiday, but I've extended my trip by a couple of weeks, so that I can see a little more than a yoga mat! I would love to trek Kili, but my worry is that I might really hurt my knees on the down hill. If I climbed soon after I arrived, I would have about 5 days to recover. Would this be long enough to get over the stiffness and the…

I'm planning to do a safari, Kili climb and beach time in Zanzibar during rainy season (May 2008). Am I being too optimistic that the weather won't ruin my trip?

We are planning a trip to Zanzibar in January 2008 - I visited before in 2002. We'll spend several days based in Stone Town, but also want to spend around 3 nights on a good beach - somewhere not too overdeveloped and noisy, but not too quiet either, with a choice of places to eat and drink, and a comfortable mid-range guest-house or small hotel on the beach.
Has anyone been to Jambiani recently? Would you recommend it? Some reports say the beach isn't very clean: obviously in the area used…
