Hi,

I wondered if anybody had heard or had experience of the following hotels in Zanzibar:

  • Zanzibar Serena Inn
  • Blue Bay Beach Resort.

I am going there early January, and these are the hotels we have booked through a travel operator. How safe is the island to wander around? Are the beaches clean?

Reviews/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I am looking at forming or joining a small safari of the Serengeti etc for 5 or 6 days starting around February 14th. Would anyone like to join or invite me into a safari? I have scoped out a few companies and most will be much cheaper if I can form a small group. Appreciate any tips on how best to do this.
Thanks.

Can someone comment on the best way of arranging domestic air travel, specifically between Dar and Arusha. I would rather spent only one full day in Dar on arrival before heading to the Arusha area. Nothing against Dar but I expect to have time to see more of it at the conclusion of my trip. I've check out some online sites, including PrecisionAir, but I've read elsewhere on this forum that people doing online reservations via this route were never quite sure if their reservations were…

Paje Hotels

Hey all,

Will be in Zanzibar over New Year's and trying to decide between Paradise Beach Bungalows and Paje Beach Bungalows in Paje. We wouldn't have a sea facing room at Paradise. We also have the option of staying at Kinazi Upepo in Paje or Sunrise Hotel in Bwejuu.

Any advice/recommendations from people that have stayed at any of these places would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Alex

Hi!

I will be coming to Tanzania from Nairobi and have about 10 days to spend in the country. Ideally, I would like to see the Serengeti for a couple days and then head out to Dar and Zanzibar. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the best way of doing this is? Is it easy enough to book a safari in the Serengeti from Arusha, or is Mwanza maybe a better option? Also, is it realistic to want to see all this in ten days, or should I be cutting something out?

Thanks for your help!

Steph :)

My wife and I will be spending three weeks in Tanz starting on Feb 17 and will be staying in Dar privatley and spending some time in Zanzibar.
We are also looking at taking a three of four night safari out of Arusha around March 2 and would greatly appreciate some suggestions as to the best destinations and companies. I have done a bit of research and ended up more confused than enlightened. There will be five people and we are past the sleeping bag stage so would be looking for mid range lodges…

Hello,

I will be going through Tanzania at the end of Jan and start of Feb, I will be travelling down from Mombasa by train and getting my visa at the boarder.
When getting my visa will it be a simple task or is it very complicated. As I am simply going though to get the train down to Zambia (and possibly a safari on the way). So I won't have a plane ticket to show I am leaving within the time period. I can show them my flight home to the UK with BA from Nairobi ready for start of June 2008.
I…

We would like to have a spiritual wedding, a kind of local ritual that would be meaninful to us, by the nature.

We are going to be in the Northern Circuit and Zanzibar.

Does anyone have an idea or heard of someone doing a similar thing?

We're currently in Mombasa and headed to Arusha or Moshi on the 10th of Dec. to hopefully arrange a safari and Kili hike for two people. Is there anyone around right now, or anybody who could let us know how busy it is and whether we would have any luck joining a camping safari and Kili hike in a relatively reasonable amount of time? We're fine with having to wait around a bit, but we don't want to go all the way there if we're not going to be able to find any availability.

Thanks so much!

We are going to spend a day or two there before catching a ferry to Zanzibar. Is Dar worth 2 days? Any tips on where to stay (not the cheapest) where to eat and what to do/see?
