Hello,

My husband and I are planning a safari in the north of tanzania, and we still have a couple of days left. So we've decided to do a 3-day hike on the Kilimanjaro.

Day 1: Marangu gate - Mandara hut
Day 2: to Horombo hut
Day 3: Horombo hut - Kilimanjaro Gate

We are 26-27, and normal fit. Is this hike considered as easy or difficult? It's our first time to hike on a mountain...
Also if anyone has some tips for clothing, equipment... don't hold back!

Thanks
Steffi

Anyone who knows this company: http://www.tanzania-adventure.com/
I have got a quote for a short safari trip, and they wan't me to pay 30% up front, which is OK, but they wan't me to pay by bank transfer. In my book this smell a little bit of fraud, but then again, I don't know that much about how things are in Africa.

Hey,
I've just got back from Tanzania to find out it's next to impossible to get the currency changed back to GBP.
If there is anyone in the UK (preferably around Berkshire) who is going to Tanzania, I have 460,000 Tsh to sell. I will exchange then at a discounted rate!

Hi all. I have plans to make my way up to Tanzania next week from Zambia on the Tazara train. Just getting back onto wifi after roadtripping in Namibia and see that there has been some disruption due to political matters. Anyone there in Dar and/or Zanzibar that can give me a head's up about how things really are from a visitor perspective? Wondering if I should be changing my route until things have resolved.

Thank you!

Hi.
I will be in Dar for work later this month, and am looking for fun ideas to do on my weekends. I will have some work to do, so likely won't make it over to Zanzibar this time (I have been there before). Can anyone suggest fun and not too expensive things to do either for a day trip, or possibly a quick overnight trip from Dar. I am female and will be traveling alone.

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone here ever used them? Are they a legitimate company?

I'm going to try and as quickly as possible buy tickets for a three week trip to Tanzania over december-january and after doing some research, I just want to confirm with experienced LP:ers on the doability of the preliminary itinerary.

So, if I fly in to Nairobi on Dec 19th, I'll have a day or two there, be in Arusha by Dec 22nd (by bus). From here I'll probably need 5-6 days in order to prepare and complete the Serengeti and maybe adding a couple of more days to do another park tour…
