Dear All,

I'm planning to take a train ride from Dar to Kapiri Mposhi during my travels in East Africa. Has anyone been on that train ride recently and how's the train condition and ride? I have the time and not in a rush. I have done overland travelling in Southern Africa and thought train ride will be something different. Also, what would be the other options for me to travel from Kapiri Mposhi to Victoria Falls other than taking a bus from there to Lusaka then to Livingston?

Thank you.

there is now a New train 3 times a week from Lusaka to Livingstone.
the name of the train is Golden Jubilee Express.
you depart Lusaka at 18.00pm on Mon,wed.fri. and get to Livingstone in time for breakfast at 06.27am
the good news for the Train from Dar to Kapiri Mposhi is they now 42 New Passenger Coaches.
and 4 new Locomotives.
so the trip will be the best it has been for years.
you will still need to take a bus from Kapiri Mposhi to Lusaka. which is 200 kms bus ride.
Lusaka now has 7 Backpacker hostels with prices from $10 a night.
and Livingstone now has 4 backpacker hostels with prices from $8 a night.

Thank you africa11.

That Golden Jubilee Express is certainly and option. Will look into it.
Is there a direct bus from Kapiri Mposhi to Livingstone? And is there any particular bus company that is recommended?

Can you tell me more about this? Are the new coaches and locomotives up and running? I'm hoping to take this journey at the end of July or beginning of August.
