I visited Tanzania last August as part of an internship through Notre Dame. I have 90,000 shillings that I am looking to sell. Is anyone headed to Tanzania that would like to trade USD for these? I can't find any place in the US that is willing to change them. Thank you. Michelle mmknepel@yahoo.com

Jambo Michelle - well its a lesson many East African travellers learn - some to their significant cost. On my estimate of 1500 TSh to a US$ you have around $60 US. Depending upon where in the US you live you might find someone who is interested in buying. If you live near Washington DC or New York city you could go to the Tanzanian Embassy/Consulates and see if any of the National Staff are interested in buying. Otherwise you could donate the money to Red Cross/World Vision/MSF or any other charity that works in East Africa. Best of luck.

Good morning Mike, I have to tell you, the present exchange rate in the Forex is 1 USD = 1,825 TSh. she should donate the money to a charity organisation, WorldVision is not my number one.
