Has anyone done a safari route in Tanzania with the Serengeti and Norongo Crater without doing it through an organized tour? For example bussing close to the parks and hopping on game drives through someone? Thanks

I am not sure if you will reach the park , because some areas are remote from public transport and in Ngorongoro it's not allowed to take a walk without a vehicle otherwise you will keep your life in danger and lions will eat you ...

I cycled to Karatu many years ago and blagged a lift into the crater. Failed to find a way into Lake Manyara though.
It would be sheer luck and chance, but why not have a go if you have plenty of time.

Just about everybody told me I'd be eaten by lions.

Sounds like a dumb idea to me especially as they count everyone coming and going at the park entrances
if you shop around as I did you can get a good deal for two day or three days everything is included and enjoy an amazing experience

I don't think the OP was suggesting that he wanted to hide out in the park overnight, and neither was I. Now that would be a dumb idea.

Howver, the possibility of making a visit to a park (in, out, paying the park fees)without being on an organised trip does exist.

If saving money is your motivation, try joining someone's trip to defray cost. If you have the time to hang out in Arusha maybe you could find like minded folks at a popular tourist hotel or hostel. Otherwise as has been already stated, the Entry gates to Serengeti and Ngorongoro are farm from anywhere.

hi, IN the guidebook ( lonely planet) the bus from arusha to mosoma pass through serengeti.

I ALSO know that i have to pay 110 usd ( entrance fee) if I GET on that bus at arusha.

my question is that bus pass through inside the serengeti ( seronera) then I CAN watch the secenery the serebgeti and animal OR JUST pass through ' outside " of ticket office of serengeti?

thank you

If the bus goes to the Seronera area you will be able to look out at the Serengeti. This may not be like a game drive where you stop to watch wildlife. When I was there in January the main road was not the best place to see anything. What are your main interests? You may be able to get on a budget tour of Tarangire Park where you will see lots of Elephants, giraffe, impala, and other animals. The chances of seeing big cats is not as good in Tarangire, but it is a wonderful park with lots of baobab trees. It was the only place we saw bat eared foxes and an Oryx (rare in Tanzania).
