Hi all,

I'd like to ask you if anyone know about any good private tour guide in Tanzania for around 10 days trip in December? Europeans or Americans preferred.

Many thanks in advance :-)

We were in northern TZ last January for just over three weeks. My wife, two adult children and I did an 8 day game safari and climbed Kilimanjaro. Both of those were with African Scenic Safaris. Our guide, Tom, was extremely knowledgeable. My wife has been a professional wildlife biologist for 40 years so I think we are pretty discriminating the quality of wildlife viewing. It could have hardly been better. In January we saw hundreds of thousands of gnus, countless other ungulates, many hundreds of elephants and spectacular bird life. The prices were reasonable relative to other outfitters that I checked with. The owners of ASS (sorry for the abbreviation) were great to deal with. Tom put us in a position to always get the best view of the action. They can book whatever level of luxury you want. On top of the great service they run a local charity and are very fair with their employees. Feel free to PM me if you want.

Hi,
I'm looking for private guides in Tanzania, too.
We are a young couple, we are interested to do a Safari in the North of the country.
We will arrive in Arusha on October 23rd and are planning to do a 6 or 7 days safari. We would like to visit Serengeti NP, Tarangire NP, Ngorongoro and lake Natron if possible. We are planning to sleep in tents.

Has someone travelled recently to this destination with a private tour guide too?

Thanks

We were very happy with African Scenic Safaris. Amanda is very prompt and thorough in answering questions. Tell her what your interests are and she will construct an itinerary for you. We spent half our time in public camps and the balance in a lodge and a private tented camp. I preferred being in the tents. The public camps are much more economical. Our guide, Tom, was very knowledgeable and personable. Tarangire was wonderful. Numerous elephants and giraffe, and a lot of fantastic bird life. Ngorongoro is a must see. Beautiful vegetation on the rim and superb game viewing in the crater. We did not go to Natron, but Amanda will be able to tell you if late October is a good time to travel there. If you have any time and are inclined I would suggest at least a short hike on Kilimanjaro. The lower forests are beautiful and are the home to birds and Colobus monkeys. Again, Amanda can tell you if this is practical for you. I am happy to answer any other questions you have.

One other thing. We stayed at the Outpost hotel in Arusha, which was very nice and affordable.
