hey there,

I am currently in Moshi and I am quite confused about the mobile internet services they are offering here. I was researching info in this earlier (also in this forum) and there officially is a vodacom data plan with "unlimited" internet use (unlimited apparently meaning about 700mb high speed traffic per day and continuing with low speed after that) for TSH 25,000...but I have not managed to actually buy this plan, and neither has my friend who is with me.

All they are selling is 5GB of high speed traffic WITHOUT low speed traffic after the 5GB are used....for 25,000 TSH. So this is in the end far more expensive than the "unlimited plan" which I am trying to buy.

so...does anyone know how I can buy this "unlimited" internet stuff?! Isn't there any possibility to do it directly via the phone or via internet without going to some shady guy on the corner?

thanks for all info

Try 14901# then select 3.Internet from there select 2 UHURU internet bundles finally, choose option 3 Monthly. The Vodacom office is just off the clock tower traffic circle in Moshi - sort of a wedge shaped building - Kilimanjaro Express Bus is also right in the same building. There will not be any shady people to deal with there and many speak pretty good English. Enjoy your stay in Moshi.

hey there,

well I actually bought my SIM & data package at the Vodacom place...I said I wanted the "unlimited" internet plan and what he sold me was 5GB of high speed (without any low speed connection afterwards)...for 25.000 TSH.

While employees in the Vodacom shop are wearing like "official" Vodacom shirts and so on, the whole process still is totally intransparent...they just take your phone, punch in some codes, take their phone, punch in some other codes etc etc...and you don't even get a receipt. Ok, this is Africa, so I guess it is normal. But still I really want that other data plan which would be actually "unlimited" (albeit with low speed after a certain threshold)....it sucks if you're not even able to send an email because you simply have NO connection :/
