Hi there,
I have read many many threads but still can't decide where to go at Christmas?
Me and my boyfriend have 18 days over christmas and new years eve for our holiday. We are both mid twenties, pretty well travelled and looking for some time on the beach relaxing, the option to party (especially new years eve) and meet people (although not too touristy). It would be nice to be able to travel about to see places and the option of things to do, tours, boat trips etc. We have a mid budget so would like to mix some luxury beautiful accomodation to mid range budget places.
Our friends are going to the Phillipines, Manilla and Borocay so we have that option but maybe fancy our own adventure. My boyfriend has heard great things about Zanzibar, maybe beach huts in the north and east coasts and a couple of days on Stonetown???? I don't know much about the phillipines I am afraid.
We are very undecided, has anyone been to both these places or can recommend somewhere new and fun for for good holiday adventure????
Any advice would be fantastic!

I have never been to Zanzibar or Borocay but either one would probably be a lot of fun. It is more about you than the place anyway.
I spend quite a bit of time in the Philippines and have some info on my website about the place.
Borocay is a favorite for people that enjoy resorts. I am more of a budget traveler so have not been there.
Some suggestions for the Philippines
Sagada for cave exploration
Banaue, Batad, Tinglayan, Kalinga for rice terraces and traditional lifestyle
Palawan for spectacular beauty (Coron for scuba diving)
Dumaguette for relaxing in a college town on the coast of Negros (and scuba diving)
Southern Leyte and Puerto Galera for diving
Donsol for snorkeling with whalesharks
Have a great time wherever you chose to go.

I highly recommend Zanzibar. I was there a couple years ago and had an amazing time. Stone Town is nice, but I recommend staying somewhere more remote (I stayed at the Hakuna Matata Beach Lodge and loved it). The beaches are increadible and it's not very touristy, so you feel like you have the whole place to yourself.
