Mount Kilimanjaro DO IT YOURSELF

Hi, I climbed to the top in 2008 but went back with a friend who didn't make it to the top in 2008 so gave it another go in 2010. I knew the guides and the company well and asked if I could walk with my friend up to Macharme camp, stay the night and then come back down with another guide (also my friend).
My friends company Africa Joy Tours arranged it for me but I don't think the park officials were very happy about it as they had never had anyone just want to go to the first camp and then come back down!
My friend made it to the top on his 2nd attempt and I really enjoyed walking up and down through the rain forest again, it is lovely so give it a try. Best of luck

There are several companies that offer one day treks to the first hut of Marangu Route. These options are usually listed under Day Trips rather than under Mountain Climbs. If you don't see it listed, just ask the company.

Found an operator that can help me out with this. Ascending from Lemosho route and descend from Machame route. 3-4 days with a very good price :)
