Itinerary in Zanzibar for a few days..?

Hi, I’m working on the Zanzibar part of my trip and have a few questions - perhaps you can help?
My itinerary/gaps/questions so far are:

30th Day 1 – Arrive at airport around lunchtime. Go to Stone town and stay over.

31st Day – New Years eve. Do tours – spice/prison island – make sure to see the turtles and do some snorkelling here. Spend New years in stone town. Sandbar’/Nakupenda Beach.

1st – ………

2nd – ………

3rd – ………

4th– ………

5th – flight home from Dar around 4 or 5 in afternoon.

My questions are:

Is the ‘Sandbar’/Nakupenda Beach the best sandbar to visit albeit touristy at peak times?

Where do I need to base myself to get out to Mnemba and also to Chumbe?

Where might Cheetah’s Rock fit into the itinerary?

Where should I base myself for Dhow sunset cruise (assuming it’s worth it)?

Jambiani beach sounds nice – so will try fitting this in too.

If there’s time, I’ll consider another island but seems lots to do in Zanzibar.

Thanks for any help, utterly clueless in terms of logistics and where this all fits in, in sequence.

  • Mnemba can be reached from Matemwe, Kiwengwa, Nungwi or Kendwa, Matemwe being the closest.
  • Chumbe island: The boats depart and arrive at Mbweni Ruins Hotel, near Stonetown. Nor sure through how to book them, though.
  • Cheetah's Rock (had to google it, never new it even existed) is just north of town, so it can be done from town as well.
  • Dhow sunset cruise - Stonetown or anywhere else along the west coast...
  • Jambiani ist lovely, it's in the south east.

Since for most of your activities Stonetwon is the best base, I would probably devide my time between town and Jambiani and leave the north for another time.

You should probably check out Paje on the Island of Zanzibar. There are supposed to be nice really nice beaches and great atmosphere especially now around high season. I am travelling there just before New Years. I have reservation at New Teddy's Hostel which is supposed to be the best party hostel. Will let you know how it is.
