at the moment i am conducting some research about the affects that travel website have on peoples perceptions of Tanzania and would really love it if you could give me some feed back about how accurate you though the depictions where and if it was what you expected.
i lived in Tanzania for 6 months last year and now am back home in New Zealand and at uni.

First of all much congratulations for deciding to conduct this research. This will be a one step ahead to help the Travel industry.
I have additional questions may be you can ask the travelers when they search and visit the travel websites.
(i) What do travelers expect to get from Travel websites to book with such particular website have visited. Do they prefer local Company in the destination country, what is the benefit or what is the shortcomings?
(ii) Do the travelers prefer referrals/recommendation from previous clients or the travelers prefer to book for fresh searching of the Tour Companies in the internet.
(iii) Do the travelers prefer advertised Companies from Hardcopy or internet?
(iv) Do the travelers like Already prepared vacation holiday packages or they want tailor made/personalised itineraries.
(v) What clients expecting from Travel websites regarding their safari expections.
Above are just few, but if you need more questions, we will be glad to tell you.

i'm a teacher of travel and tourism and have engaged in similar research in the past.
as #1 outlines, you'll need to have more specific questions if you are to get any valid response.
perhaps even design a questionnaire??
i was in tanzania this july/august and would be glad to answer any specific questions about websites i used as i'm sure others would be as well.

I think it's an interesting question, and I do think travel web sites effect perceptions of places: these online forums are the new guide books. Unfortunately, I can't help with your question as I've never been to Tanzania, but good luck w/ your research.
