Why do you need to do this?? As you will be climbing with an approved/licenced trekking company they should**
be organising a cook (who will do the cooking ) and also supply the food. Double check with your trekking company for any special dietary requirements (vegetarian / vegan). Most companies should be able to cope with vegetarian (depends upon how strict) however vegan WILL pose real problems.
Please come back with more info about why you think you need the fuel for your MSR stove. Cheers
I am going with a trekking agency and yes they are organizing meals, but I am bringing a few things of my own just in case. Past experience has taught me that when/if I'm sick while trekking in a foreign country - I like to have a stash of my own goods from home just in case. So I would like to find a can of cooking fuel before I head out to the mountain. Obviously I can't bring fuel on flight, so I wanted to find out if there was some available in Moshi.
So - does anyone know if I can find cooking fuel in Moshi?
Thanks

Thanks for the update. Now regarding the fuel - from the info you have provided you are looking for the use once - not the refillable ones (correct?). It is a few years since my last trek, but if memory serves the cooks used kerosene (paraffin in the UK) which was decanted from a number of 5 litre cans into the smaller 1 or 2 litre cans that their stoves had.
I can understand the wanting to "cook" something difference for yourself - but remember your "large backpack" should not exceed 15kg (the max the porters are permitted to carry as well as their personal gear - max 25 kg all up). If you know who you are trekking with maybe contact them about the fuel or the place you are staying at before the trek. As for "topping up your supplies" there are a couple of "western style" supermarkets in Moshi. The larger one is just off the clock tower roundabout (take road heading east - I think). Good luck
