Sea link is actually a good idea, as it saves a person spending night in Dar. But they depart only 2 or 3 days of week from Dar.
You will have to send them a mail for this as I could not find the schedule for this online. The only information that is available online is capacity of carrying 200 vehicles and 1,500 passengers, and the rates for shipping cars!
But this could be the ideal choice.

Re the Sea Link cargo ferry - I would double check about who is allowed on this ferry. I doubt non-citizens would be permitted. Also these the most "unsafe" ferries. They are the ones that have to most "problems". I happened to be there back in Sep 2011 when one sank - at least 600 people drowned (the really true figure will never be known). Stick to the regular passenger ferries - Kilimanjaro III (or similar) if possible.

Azam Sealink is on the web ,plenty of info/ images about the ship ,very safe had used it my self once to/from Pemba across the Nungwi channel and never felt unsafe for a second! It moves slow you will think you are inside a huge building you can sleep ,eat, watch TV ,play cards, etc just to kill time and am sure if you are with a high resolution binoculars,in daytimes you might even view Saadani National Park off the coast of Tz mainland!
Azam group of companies Is a reputable Superbrand in East Africa !
Please if you have not tried Azam Sealink before don't group it with ones with "problems" and any body willing to travel with it can travel with ,its ideal for passengers with cargos !
Cheers

I think Azam Sealink 1 has schedules on every Tuesday and Friday nights from DSM to Znz .
This ferry takes about 6-7hrs but ports terminal don't open until 6Am in Stonetown!
Cheers
Have you considered flying instead? Once you add the price for the taxi (about $20, I guess) to the price for the ferry ($40, maybe more now), you'll pay almost the same for flying and it will be a lot more convenient (only 20 minutes).
I also agree with the others that two hours really isn't enough to be sure to make it for the ferry.
Thank you to everyone that replied to this thread!! The information provided was super helpful. Out of fear of many of the above comments, I decided to book a flight from DAR to ZNZ so I do not miss the ferry. It was not much of a difference in price when you factor in all the expenses involved in getting from the airport to my final destination. Thank you again to everyone that replied!
