Nungwi has one of the best beach in Africa if Not the world ! Natural Crystal Clear Blue "swimming pool" like water!
I would definitely recommend it ,another added advantage is its location right on the northern tip of the island ,hence almost never affected by tides! Making swimming possible all year round.
But if you can get tidal schedule of East side beaches do add a few day stay there,the east side beaches with high tides in ,and mixed with Flora and Fauna of there are more like a "paradise" ,so most like to mix a both stay in Northern Nungwi during low tides island schedule and any East side beach during high tides!

You might want to consider Tanzanite Beach Resort. We stayed there in December last year and enjoyed it a lot.
