Hey

Me and my boyfriend are in our late 20s and will be travelling in Southern Africa throughout January- March. We want to hire a car and travel throughout South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. Please can you help me understand what sort of car we will need to get by. We want to keep the travelling as cheap as possible but realise we may need something more hardy to get us through difficult terrain.

We're also hoping to find travel buddies who would like to share a leg of our journey…

Hey guys,

We are travelling to Cape Town for a week this November and we are renting a car for driving around.

We have shortlisted 3 acco options. Would be great if we can get some advice on selections.

  1. Camps Bay - cottage near the sea, but very expensive

  2. De waterkant - beautiful apartment, expensive

  3. Sea Point - Room in a villa, very good price

Wanted to check which area would you recommend for views, safety and hangout places. Also, is it worth paying a…

Hey Guys,

I was wondering can you use the Baz Bus on 1 single trip i.e Capetown-Storms River or Jeffrey's Bay to Durban?

Storms River- Boulkrans Bridge is 22km. I suppose I could rent a bike to reach there.Does anyone have experience of this area?Or do buses run this route?

Lastly (again Having difficulty finding info) Are buses available between Storms River and Jeffrey's Bay? And buses between Jeffrey's bay and Durban?

The baz bus wouldn't suit my needs as I am only stopping in so few…

Hey Guys,

I have been thinking that renting a bike would be a good way to get around Capetown for the few days that I am there.I have been trying to find good/recommended bike routes online that might take in a few sights but I'm not coming up with much.Would bikes be easily available to rent?Chapman's Peak drive looks worth a cycle definitely. The cape of good hope might be too ambitious.Where would be the best place to get a view of Table Mountain maybe? They all look lovely but I only have a…

Hi everyone
Can anyone please recommend a Soweto and Apartheid Museum tour? I have emailed a couple but have had no replies. I will only have 1 1/2 days in Johannesburg so would prefer to book in advance. Also prefer to be picked up from my hostel.
Thanks in advance!

We are renting a car and plan on driving from Durban to East London and Port Elizabeth along the Garden Route and ending up in Cape Town.

However, a friend recently told me that parts of that road are not safe and should not be driven Can anyone shed light on this advice?

Which parts are unsafe and is there another way we can go? We want to drive the Garden Route and need to end up in Cape Town ( and are not attached to being in PE or EL).

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Hi all

We're heading over to South Africa in a few weeks for just over 2 week's holiday with a fortnight in country (arrive 10:00am on Sunday 4th, depart evening of Sunday 18th). One of my friends lived in Namibia and has recommended visiting and given us a good list of places to go, so we have a provisional itinerary which in broad terms looks like the following - any opinions on whether this is the best use of time would be greatly appreciated. I am conscious we've only given ourselves 2…

I got few of my South African neighbours ,and they told me that South Africa economy and whole country is going down ,and within 10-15 years South Africa will be the second Zimbabwe .

I was told that every white family got the wired fence around their yard ,and that you can not walk alone longer distance because of crime .I read this

I will be in South Africa between January 1. and January 10. 2017. I am a middle aged female solo traveller who is quite experienced in travelling. I would like to do a group tour to see the highlights of South Africa, esp. Krueger, Capetown, Winelands etc. and I do not want to travel by my own this time. Of course I am also open to suggestions!

I will fly in and out of Johannisburg, but I can always take a flight to Cape Town if needed.

Can you please recommend a travel agent that offers…

I am going to be in Cape Town soon and wish to hike up Table mountain, was going to do it alone but I see it is not recommended because of potential violent crime which is such a shame (by contrast you could hike any wilderness area in Southern California with a reasonable expectation of safety).

Any alternatives? Is the trail busy? How bad is the crime? Worst case scenario can I just book a tour/join a group?
