I am going to SA end of Nov for two weeks to get away from work and cold weather. One of the main attraction of SA apart from the gorgeous weather and people, is the wildlife and that too in Kruger National Park......or so I have been told. Having done a cursory search, I see that I have 3 options:
a) Take a safari tour offered by private agencies.....approx. $500-$700 for a 3 day trip.
b) Take the wilderness trail offered by Kruger National Park......approx. $360 for a 3 day trip.

We are going to South Africa later this month for just a couple of weeks. We really want to go on safari and someone has recommended Amakhala. Has anyone been here? Do you self drive the safari or hire a driver/join a group? Also can anyone recommend any budget end ways of staying there? A google search brought up high-end options.

A last minute question: advised a taxi from the airport to Bo-kaap is R300 thru hostels. Is the shuttle bus any cheaper & as convenient? Do shuttle buses drop you at your hostel like in other countries?
Is it safe to carry cash while travelling around the Cape, or better to use cards & fork the up their extra charges?
I have heard of cases in Africa where they have confiscated cash at the airports when going thru customs.....

Hello, i have a work trip to Johannesburg and think i am going to try to take my 22 month old daughter and my 71 year old mother and do some safari things late November. ****Hi guys! I'm going to be finishing a tour in Jo'burg on the 14th of January. I've then got a month to get back to Capetown to catch my flight to India.
