Hello everybody,
I'm going to South Africa for 4 months. (March until June)
I want to work for 2 months in the Wine lands of Durbanville. Is this possible?
And yes, where do I get permission?
Have someone experience?
Thanks a lot!
Yours sincerely

Application for a work permit has to done at the embassy in your home country (as far as I know). The rules changed recently and its a difficult process from what I hear. Coming as tourist and getting some under the table work might be easier. Either way getting a job is going to be difficult way so plan on not having an income if you don't line up something beforehand.

Thanks for the reply, Ghalied.
But it's necessary that I have an income, because the goal of my journey is to make a ecological journey.
My budget is very low, have anyone advice for me?

I don't know much about the mechanics of working in South Africa but am aware that it has a massive unemployment rate which suggests that a) work will be very hard to find and b) you will be competing against a lot of other people for work which suggests pretty low wages, unless you have special skills in the wine industry that are greatly in demand. Thinking a bit laterally, if it's wine rather than Africa specifically you are interested in, what about Australia. Much easier to get a working holiday visa, lots of vinyards and they do employ quite a lot of seasonal workers at presumably rather higher pay rates.

I'm more interested in South-Africa than in wine.
The work doen't have to be in the wine industry, but I thought it was the easiest option.
Have anyone experience with working with a family in exchange for a sleeping place and food?

You will find it almost impossible to get work without a work permit so don't bank on this being your income. Upon entry to SA you need to prove you have enough funds to support your visit.
