Hi,
I am 32 single male, currently in Joburg on a short assignment which will be getting over by 1st week of Oct, post that planning to see South Africa covering Mpumalanga, Kruger, Drakenberg, Durban, Garden Route, Knysna, Cape town then hopefully to Namibia and Botswana as well.
Exact dates and mode of travel not decided but open to anything from driving around to Baz or Greyhound buses, looking forward to meeting likeminded travel buddies. Get in touch.

Heman, I am not a potential travel buddy, but I do have some comments on your date of travel versus schedule. In early October the Garden Route and Knysna are likely to be pleasant, but it is still too early in spring to enjoy one of the great attractions - the beaches - unless you are a hardy soul. That starts in mid-November. Nonetheless, October has less rain than later in summer. Cape Town is a different kettle of fish. You are towards the end of their (winter) rainy season, merging with summer, so the weather is highly changeable with risk of storms. You will also probably be too take for the West Coast wild flowers. Also, driving from the north (where October is probably one of the two best months for visiting game parks) takes a looooong time, there and back. So, unless you are visiting the Cape for nature reasons, social, or wines, it is probably not the optimal time, plus given that you will be using 2 days just driving, why not at least consider adding in more 'stuff' in the north, such as Pilanesberg (wild life in an extinct volcano, golf, casino [I know!!]) and/or northern Zululand (history; already warm enough for beaches, a swathe of great wild life options - Ndumu, Hluhluwe, Imfolosi, Mkuzi, Lake St Lucia, Sodwana Bay (scuba)).

If you are dead-set on the Cape, how about the off-season but climatically super November (especially mid- onwards)?

Thank you Pedro for your recommendations this is really helpful. The thing is my travel will depend on when my assignment gets over which could be anything between October and November.
I have not thought of any particular reason to visit any place just a bit of google and recommendations from nice people like you. I would like to purse some adventure like bungee, shark cage, sky diving and Cape Town appears to be best place to do it.
I am planning hiking in Drakensberg and Mpumalanga.
Your recommendations look fantastic, will try to cover as many places as possible.
If I am short on time I might take flight.
As I am still planning which places to go your suggestions would really help in plan things.
Thank you.

Hey Heman!

I will be traveling to SA [Cape Town] in the first week of December. Will you be there?

Heman, given the bungee, shark cage, sky diving - indeed Cape Town is tops. Well perhaps not CT itself. For the shark diving Gansbaai is the usual destination. The world's highest bungee jump under natural conditions is at Bloukrans, on the other end of the Garden Route, some 540 kilometres from Cape Town. The more you explain, the better November sounds. Either month and you will be in the 'right' area to see Southern Right whales. With the impressive mountains of the Western Cape, and given your penchant for 'extreme' sports, you might be also interested in canyoning ('kloofing' in the local speech); I seem to remember it takes place in many places, both near Cape Town and along the Garden Route..

Have a fabulous time!!
