I want to first put a disclaimer that I know Visa runs don't work anymore really but this is a strange circumstance so I didn't know if anyone could give me some guidance:

Hi all, I need to give you a little background before I get to my question.

First off, I hold a German passport but I have permanent residence in Botswana.

I've been attempting to get a 3 year charitable persons visa but the RSA High Commission in Botswana keeps denying me even though I have all of the necessary paperwork.

My question is whether, since I hold a German passport with Botswana Residence, I can just do visa runs every 90 days. I've heard that if you go back to your country of residence for a certain period of time, SA will give you a new 90 days when re-entering. Does anyone know if this is true? Or how long I have to be in Botswana to get a new 90 days?

Thanks in advance!

When I was in SA, I had a friend's girlfriend that was staying in SA for extended period of time on tourist visas. They took trips to Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana, and Mozambique as their way to get out of the country, sometimes for just 1 day. This was 2013-2014 but I've since heard that SA is more strict and don't allow such practices anymore but can't say for certain.
