Hi there,
I hope someone can help me out. I am a British citizen and I am planning on visiting friends in Gauteng, South Africa for a period of up to 6 months. The normal tourist visa is limited to 90 days and I believe an extension of a further 90 days is available. I would appreciate it if someone could give me an answer to the following -
1.) Should a return flight ticket be booked for the 6 month period?
1.) If return ticket is provided and funds are available for this length of time then is it pretty certain an extension will be granted?
3.) Where is the extension obtained i.e. what department/office?
Thanks,
Jeff

i answered you other post but anyway
1) i don't see why not
the other 1) yes if you go 30 days for the expiry of the temporary residence permit you are issued on arrival. it is now a requirement to submit the application this far in advance because home affairs are slow. you'll be given your passport back and given a receipt confirming the amount paid. you will be then required to pitch at 30 days to find out if it has been approved.
3) department of home affairs - ask your friends they will know where the nearest one is.
