Sorry, have not been monitoring this thread... I did do Platteklip solo last year in September. There weren't many people on the trail but it turned out ok! I am guessing muggings are possible so be prepared just in case. I came down by Cable car. The trail is not easy but not too tough either. As you go up pay attention to the trail as it branches off to another peak close to the summit. I used GPS all the way so did not miss the turn.
