Hi all-
will be in south africa for 10 days , travelling from the US. I will be on safari for 7 of those 10 days where there is no wifi. Is there cell phone coverage? Should I get a sim card with a data plan? or is there another alternative? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, get a Vodacom sim at the airport. Though what usually do is leave my phone's sim alone and get the data sim for my tablet.

I don't think so. You'll probably have to get another sim in Botswana.

If you're going to Kruger there's not much cell phone coverage outside of the rest camps. Mine usually disappears around 300 m outside the camps.
