Hey Guys,

I was wondering can you use the Baz Bus on 1 single trip i.e Capetown-Storms River or Jeffrey's Bay to Durban?

Storms River- Boulkrans Bridge is 22km. I suppose I could rent a bike to reach there.Does anyone have experience of this area?Or do buses run this route?

Lastly (again Having difficulty finding info) Are buses available between Storms River and Jeffrey's Bay? And buses between Jeffrey's bay and Durban?

The baz bus wouldn't suit my needs as I am only stopping in so few places in such short time and would be constrained by budget. So I will rely on public transport so any help would be really welcome here guys thanks very much. The last thing I want to do is end up stuck without transport.

Cheers
Fergal

There are 3 main bus companies that I can think of: Greyhound, Translux and Intercape (in order of my preference). You can check their website for routes and times. There's also minibus taxis but they have very little info online but might suit you better for short trips - you'll have to try and get info on these as you go along - it's a very informal system and if the owners of the accommodation can't give you info, ask the cleaning staff.

Also note that if you're using the long distance busses, double check the arrival/departure times (I've sometimes arrived in the middle of the night) and also try and figure out how to get from the stop (the different companies stop at different places) to your final destination (email the place you intend to stay at for info).

Oh and for Storms River, there's a shuttle service so no need to worry.

AS above....the Bazbus is not really intended for your kind of trip.

You can use a combination of 'normal' buses (Greyhound etc) and minibuses for short trips...there are plenty of these, but they don't really run to a timetable. You might also get some (white) south Africans advising you against them,as they are largely used by local black people, but in my experience they are perfectly safe...and cheap, and frequent.

Then as #1 mentions...if you want to stay at a particular hostel, good idea to contact them directly. They often do shuttle buses or pickups...a lot of places off the actual Bazbus route send shuttle minbuses out to major stop off points to pick up backpackers.
