New Years Eve in Joburg

Go to Hillbrow, one of the suburbs which used to be the greatest place for nightlife in Africa (that was back in the 60's and 70's). On New Year's eve go see how the blacks throw fridges and stoves out of their apartment windows!! No kidding - the only place in the world where that happens. Also, on New Years eve I bet you will see at least 5 brutal killings among the blacks! Lots and lots of blood. Ah the New South Africa. The next morning walk down the streets of Joburg and see hundreds of drunk black laying around....still blaming Apartheid for their sorrows and their killings. Will be one of your most memorable New Year's eve.

We always see the new year in with friends at one of their homes. Although #1's response is uncalled for, I would not recommend Hillbrow or the neighbouring areas as a party scene on that night. Many people go out to dinner or clubs to see the New Year in, but that can get rather expensive. I think you would have to use Google to find "What's on in Johannesburg"
