Hi Everyone,
I'm going to SA for 2 weeks and would like to :
- Go to the Kruger park with a tour (is the BazBus wild safari tour worth it ? Any other tour you can suggest ?)
- Dive to see big animals like sharks, whale sharks, dolphins etc.. What are the best spot ?
Since I'm travelling alone, I'm thinking about taking the Bazbus but I'm open to any suggestion.
Thanks in advance for your answers,
Julien

Diving to see sharks is strictly a seasonal affair - July and August is the right time of year.
As to whales, I wouldn't try diving near them and don't know of anyone here who would facilitate that! But peak whalewatching season is August - end October.
For whale sharks, head for the northern Kwa Zulu Natal coast or Mozambique.
For dolphins, Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route is your best bet IMO.

Thanks for your answer. Is there any chances to see Whales in November ?
What about tours in the Kruger Park, any tips ? Thanks !

CTLocal being, presumably, a cape town local probably knows more about this than i do. but i did a great white cage "dive" near hermanus in late december. we saw plenty of great whites... from the boat. the water visibility that time of year is less than stellar. that said, it was still a blast. THAT said, i'm not sure i'd do it again. (i'm sure others in this forum have expounded on the "great white cage dives, should they happen?" debate. so i'll abstain.)
now, up here in kwazulu-natal, it's a different story. i went on a ragged-tooth shark dive with underwater world (durban) and sea fever (umkomaas) the first week of october. it was great. we saw a half-dozen raggies at cathedral in aliwal shoal. if i remember what the experts from the natal shark board (which is worth visiting by the way; in umhlanga just outside of durban) told us, aliwal is a stopping point -- between port alfred area and sodwana bay area -- for the raggies.
they also said that november marked the beginning of the tiger shark dive season. call sea fever and ask for walter if you're interested. i think it's $150. with many rave reviews. good luck!
