I'm trying to do a little budget planning for my upcoming RTW trip, and was hoping somebody could give me an idea of the following costs in Cape Town.
1) how much standard, VERY cheap meals cost (like what the locals eat in a local eatery)
2) how much a one way inner-city bus, subway, trolley, etc... costs.
I know these sound like negligible costs, but they will give me an idea of how much to budget for basic services.
Thanks!

- beef or chicken with some mili paap (maize) is about almost two dollars, but can get things cheaper, like food from the supermarkets. try Pick and pay.
2. it really depends, but for example from stellenbosch (wine route) to Cape Town is about one dollar and the distance is long. I think was like .25cents a ride in mini buses.

Top of the screen - next to "Home" - is "Destinations". Select your country and it gives most of this information. Saves you typing in the same question for lots of countries.............

Eating is SA is incredibly inexpensive. Of course they have their upmarket restaurants but when we were there in November last we found you could eat at most "good" places and have a slap up meal, with wine for less than USD20. If you are going to Durban, find a place that serves "bunny chow". Half a loaf of bread full to the brim with curry. You'll pay a couple of bucks for it and waddle away!! Best advice is find out where the locals go. Same idea anywhere in the world.
