Hi guys,

I'm planning a holiday in South Africa at the moment and would like to drive along the Garden Route. I was thinking about camping, just to enjoy a little bit more freedom cause I know it's holiday season and accomodations will most probably have to be booked in advance. Does anybody know if it's the same for campgrounds or would it be possible to pull up at a site in the afternoon and still get a spot?

thx,
poshar

Hi Poshar,

i have spent a lot of time in SA as well as along the garden route. During high season (Dec. till Feb) campgrounds are mostly fully booked as well, I would advise u to book at least the first couple of stops and then while u travel along the rest. Sure u can also show up but chances are that u will not get a space. Different is it during low season then u can go everywhere and find a place easily :)

Hope i could help you
Cheers

Thank you, Alex - good to know! I guess I'll have to put down my free spirit for once... ;-)
