Will be in Cape Town in Feb. with a 5 year old and a 15 month old. Any suggestions on good hotels or any accommodation that is kid friendly? Have never before been, so any tips or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
IMO a self catering house or apartment is often a better choice for a family than a hotel or B&B. I have booked to stay here when I visit next year (obviously haven't been there yet!). Its in SimonsTown (v close to Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, penguin colony at Boulders etc.). Out of Cape Town proper (a short drive away) but walking distance to family-friendly reaturants in SimonsTown. In fact, the owner told me there are frequently penguins nesting actually in the garden (and dassies in the garden too) which will just be brilliant good for my kids! - probably yours too. Apparently it also has had a new kitchen fitted since the website photos . . .

Definitely go for self catering apartment or house, it is so much less stressful with young ones than the other accommodation options.
I also recommend the False Bay coast (same as Pink Nose!) for a few reasons:
- Firstly because of the lovely warm sea for the kids! Our kids love to swim on that side rather than the Atlantic side.
- secondly because it's much more family friendly than the glitzy / city spots nearer the CBD. (cape Town's not that big so I can't understand shy most visitors want to be right in the thick of the city centre! Sometimes I feel I'm on a one-woman crusade to promote areas away from Camps Bay and the Waterfront :o)
You can do wonderful things out there like camel rides at Imhoff Farm, tea at our favourite
child-friendly Cape Town venue (it still is, despite a menu revamp!), easy visits to the penguins at Boulders etc.
