hi there,

i'm going to South Africa to do some volunteer work in around 4 weeks, however, before the start of my project i'm heading to Cape Town for three nights to have fun and chill out a bit before the project. has anyone got any tips for good places to go on such a short timescale? i'm looking for a mix of sightseeing and relaxing stuff (beaches, restaurants etc) and activites. any help would be appreciated!!

stay at one of the backpackers on Longstreet (clubs, bars, restaurants) and jump on a Rikki www.rikkis.co.za or a minibus taxi to get to the beaches. And/or take on of the "City Sightseeing Buses" www.city-sightseeing.com/cape_town.htm to get to see most of the "tourist highlights" of CT.

Beaches could be cold. July/August is the worst of the winter.

After (or before) Boulders beach, try Cape point and then maybe stay on the peninsula for a great meal at Flukes Restaurant at the Southern Right hotel at Glencairn just north of Simons town.

Drink Windhoek not Castle
