I have booked my gorilla permit and a car from Musanze (Ruhengeri) for the 1st of November. For the moment I'm going alone, so if anyone would want to join and help to cover the car/driver cost, please send me a private message.
HI, have been looking at hiring car/ driver to go fro Kigali to Fort Portal, Uganda. Have been quoted $140/ day for this excluding fuel from Kabirurwanda web site. Got held up and was not able to get back to them for a few days and they e-mailed again saying they were now offering a discount of $20/ day to $120 / day for 4x4 and including drivers expenses and accommodation. The ready discount has got me (maybe unfairly ) a little suspicious, but the prices seems good. Has anyone had dealings…
If you are going Gorilla Trekking in Parc National Des Volcans in Rwanda on 11 December 2010 and you would like to share transport costs from Musanze (Ruhengeri) to the park entrance (Kinigi) - please contact me. Cheers, Justin
Apologies, I forgot the most important thing!
Does anyone have any current recommendations as to where we can hire a self-drive car (not 4x4) for a few days?
Also, can anyone shed any light as to what is the norm as regards insurance? I know third party insurance is compulsory, but the understanding of and availability of comprehensive insurance seems a big vague. I can work with a quoted fixed excess, but not with a vague notion that we would pay for any damage up front and then the insurance…
I'm heading off to Rwanda and Uganda next week and I still have a few outstanding questions that I haven't been able to find answers to elsewhere. Hopefully someone here can help.
- We will only land in Kigali at 7pm. Will there be taxis waiting at the airport at this time, or should we pre arrange something?
- What is the going rate for a taxi from the airport to central Kigali?
- Will there be anywhere at the airport to get Rwandan Francs at that time?
- Later in the trip we need to transfer…
I'm heading to Bujumbura for a short work trip at the end of October and I'd like to visit around for a couple of weeks.
My concern is with the weather, as November is going to be raining season: can anyone advise about travelling along the country at that time of the year?
Will it be heavy raining all day long or just a few hours a day? will the roads be still drivable or do they become a swamp?
Please ADVISE!!!
Thanks
Hi,
Travelling to the Volcanoe National Park and Gorilla treking is realy expensive but costs can be cut if you form a group for car and driver.
Anyone want to share? I will be going between 14 and 17th Nov.
A short while ago I wired the money for the permits- called to check it was received and our permits were in our names and booked for the correct day. this wa all assured and we have papers and email to evidence this.
I have emailed the RDB re when and where to pick the permits up and its gone quiet. I suspect, there is not a problems- but can anyone who has booked the permits in the way please let me know where they picked them up and how soon before the day of the trek. I recall when i spoke…
Next January, me and two friends would like to do gorilla trecking in Rwanda. After a couple of phone calls and emails, ORTPN has now sent me the following bank details:
Beneficiary: RDB (Rwanda Development Board)
ACCOUNT NUMBER: 1220203
Code swift: BNRWRWRW
Has anyone ever transferred money to ORTPN before? Did you get the same information? How did you get your permits after you transferred the money?
Since it is a lot of money to transfer, I just want to make sure I send it to the right…
thinking about staying here next summer so wondering if anyone on here has stayed in this place?? got excellent reviews on another website.
have never been to kigali before so wondering what the location of the hotel is in the city, is there much around it?? is it possible to walk to places from it or is it better to take taxis everywhere?!
thanks
