Last summer I picked up some congolese craft of very good quality from "The Travellers Rest Hotel" in Kisoro. Hopefully I will be returning to Uganda/Rwanda next summer. Therefore I wanted to hear where the best place is to find good quality congolese craft in Uganda and Rwanda?
Hi, Hola, Bonjour, Salam : )
We are flying into Nairobi and renting a car to drive into Tanzania and onward through Kilimanjaro area, Serengeti, possibly into Rwanda, and onto Uganda around Lake Victoria, and back into Kenya.
Has anyone done this route via a tour, public transport, rental, etc ...
If so I have a few questions please ...
1) I did similar thing in South Africa into Lesotho & Swaziland land which are both land-locked within South Africa. The rental car agency at the time tagged…

Hi there
I want to stay in Kinigi Guesthouse the day before my gorillas trekking. Since it is very close to the starting point of the trek, I was wondering to just show up there in the morning and have a lift with other trekkers. I am reading all the time that it's always many more places in cars than people, so it's easy to share. Of course I want to offer some money for that.
What's your experience on that? Did any of you have issues with taking a ride? Or if you had a car, did you take…
Hi,
Is it possible to go from Kigali to Kabale for much less than $80? I was offered either to meet my tour guide at Kabale or have him pick me up from Kigali then drive to Kabale for an extra $80. This is my first trip to the region, so I have no reference point whatsoever.
I can probably take the bus from Kigali to Kabale for much less, but have to lug a 29" fully loaded suitcase along. Any suggestions please? Many thanks!
I just bought a 3-day Kigali - Bwindi - Kampala gorilla safari from an operator recommended by an Uganda friend. Am looking for fellow passengers to bring down transportation cost. Please email me if you'd like to join the safari. I also send you to my tour operator to get the gorilla viewing permit, if you wish; she got the permit the day after I wired her the money.
Itinerary:
- Dec 16, Kigali pickup and drive to Bwindi
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Districts of Kabale, Kisoro and…
I'll be arriving in Kigali in early January with a week or so to spare before starting a two year volunteer job. My plan is to find a secure place to drop the majority of my stuff and go on a short r & r trip to Uganda. Could anyone recommend a cheap hostel for my first night in Rwanda and/or a place where I might safely deposit my gear for a few days? I noticed a reply to another query that mentioned a hostel run by St. Michel Cathedral. Does anyone have contact information for it? Any…
Hello. I am planning to go gorilla trekking on Saturday, Dec 4th. I want to hire a car/driver from Kigali to the park the morning of; I checked with one travel agency in my hotel and the cost is ~$360 USD leaving the hotel at 4am and returning the same day. That price is steep and I'm wondering if anyone would like to split the cost with me and travel together? Or, does anyone know of a cheaper option (and reliable) for transportation the morning of the trek? Thanks!

Hey,
Just curious as to if there are chimpanzee treks/tours simialar to that of the Gorilla trek which operate in Rwanda? I have found it difficult to find info on chimps in Rwanda, in comparison to Uganda, which doesnt help because I plan on only going to Rwanda.
Also, is there chimp or gorilla orphanages in Rwanda which can be visited? or even a zoo which allow closer contact with the animals?
thanks
