Hi,

I have had similar experiences, but haven't send the money yet. I send an email to RDB to make a reservation and they confirmed there are permits available for the selected date and the permits are reserved by payment. Anyhow, they didn't send any bank details or other information to enable me to proceed the payment. Now I've been trying for 2,5 weeks to contact them to confirm the booking, but they haven't answered my emails and no-one's answering the phone calls either.

I have never heard of the RDB. What happened to the ORTPN? This was the official organization that issued Rwanda gorilla permits in the past.

I would try calling them. With the ORTPN, mid-morning Rwanda-time was a good bet.

Hope this helps,

BB

BigBri, at the site www.rwandatourism.com, if you go to Contacts, you will find

RDB Tourism Information Offices (RDB is Rwanda Development Board)

I think there has been a reorganization or so.

At the ORTPN site (http://www.ortpn.gov.rw) there is still the e-mail address: ortpn@rwanda1.com

ORTPN is part of RDB - I'm sat about 20m from their office.

How far in advance are you trying to book?

We had no problems and yesterday we saw the gorillas - well worth a little patience. All the many tourists there had managed to book the day they wanted and there were spare places.

Sounds familiar. We sent the money and heard nothing for weeks, they then switched the dates due to group bookings which worked out better for us. You have to keep ringing.
